Updates on Regional Activities to promote the Future of Nursing-NYS priority recommendations aimed at education, leadership and active participation in changing health care. Learn to utilize national, state and regional resources to promote the Future of Nursing. Explore a toolkit created for regional use to promote the Future of nursing with consumers, health care decision makers and nurses. Earn 6 contact hours

    $75 for nurses:

Who should attend?
Nurses, nursing students, consumers, and health care decision makers with an interest in nurse’s role in transforming the health care system of the future should attend this conference. The presentations will provide attendees with a status report on Future of Nursing activities within the past year and provide state and regional updates and contacts. Participants will leave the conference with a toolkit and strategies to promote the recommendations of the Future of Nursing in their institution/county/area.

Cathryne Welch, co-chair of the NYS Future of Nursing Committee,

Dr. Deb Stamps, VP and CNO of Newark-Wayne hospital and a member of the State Future of Nursing steering committee,
Mel Callan, NP, & legislative strategist and the Monroe County Supreme Court Judge the Honorable Richard Dollinger.

These presenters will guide participants to an understanding of the current status of the Future of Nursing, at the national, state and regional levels and discuss strategies for successful discussions of nursing with non-nurses. In the afternoon, energetic nurse leaders will engage participants to actively promote progress on the Institute of Medicine (IOM) eight recommendations. A toolkit of resources developed by the Finger Lakes region will be distributed for use by participants to promote the Future of Nursing agenda in their locations.

 The Future of Nursing Conference will be held at the Smith Opera House in Geneva, NY, nestled in the heart of the Finger Lakes region.  Morning and afternoon breaks will be provided, with lunch on your own at one of many restaurants within walking distance of the Opera House. These restaurants are among several within easy walking distance of the Opera House- Eddie O'Briens; Halseys, and Parkers Grille and Tap House. After the conference, visit a Seneca Lake winery to bring some of the best of the Finger Lakes home with you!
